Hey all! I have been so wrapped up in life and work, blogging has been a bit on the back burner. But I am back and with some accountability and momentum behind me. Here is what is happening with me.
I have joined forces with two other writers, Kallie Ross & Morgan Wylie to encourage, share the love & writing tips. We have started to challenge each other to bring up word counts, get more organized & inspired. You can check out our video challenges on LoveWriteCreate.com or follow the hashtag on twitter. It has really been amazing to see how much more I get accomplished when I know others are keeping me accountable. Last week I got close to 3000 words and with 3 kids & a full time social media job, that is not too shabby. Join us! The next challenge is NanoWriMo! Check it out below.
This has been the hardest thing to balance now that I have started writing. Ugh, the pull of the story is always on my mind and I have started trying to schedule reading time like my writing time. If I don’t, I go on reading binges and read novel after novel till I have to go to work or eat. I have a few books just waiting for me to start. One of them is Allegiant by Veronica Roth.
I loved Divergent & Insurgent, but I am hesitant to start Allegiant. I am not a HUGE dystopian fan. Ok, so I am a wimp who loves happy endings, so kill me. I have heard some murmurings about the end and now I am terrified. I have enjoyed the discussion on the interwebs about the authors responsibility to the reader. Since this is a dystopian, I feel like it really is anything goes. I expect for there to be death and destruction. But I also understand those readers who lament the loss of beloved characters or endings that are not what you expect. I guess I am just hesitant because of my love for the characters and the story and want there to be some what of a “happy” ending. Oh the feels, it’s going to be bad. But I want to know what happens, so…deep breaths. I will read Allegiant this week. (feel free to send tissue and cupcakes)
Been listening to tons of music while I write and especially on my way home for inspiration. Listening to Lorde a lot, she is just so out of the box that it is refreshing and kicks that creativity right into gear.
Just got Group Love’s new album on my ipod & love the Bastille album. Eagerly awaiting new music from Civil Twilight and Young the Giant. And I just got word Young the Giant will be in Nashville for a show. Trying very hard to get tickets!
So this week I will try to top my 3000 words from last week. Get at least halfway done with Allegiant. Record and post another video for #LoveWriteCreate. And lastly try to blog here about my journey to finish Enigma.
Please let me know what you are doing to challenge yourself, blogging about, reading, and listening to! Have a great week!
